Description of project:
"Exploring the role of long non-coding RNA in regulating the TGF-β pathway in the tumor niche of intrahepatic cholangiocarcinoma"
Project leader: Cédric Coulouarn, CR1 Inserm, Inserm UMR991, Rennes
Transforming growth factor-β (TGF-β) plays a key role in cancer pathogenesis. However, the action of TGF-β is complex given that it exhibits both tumor suppressive and oncogenic properties, depending on tumor stage. Recently our group reported that the expression of TGF-β in the microenvironment is a predictor of poor prognosis and is correlated with the expression of specific long non-coding RNA (lncRNA) in intrahepatic cholangiocarcinoma (ICC), the second most common type of primary cancer in the liver. Thus, our new project funded by the CGO (AO emergence 2014-2015) aims at investigating the role of lncRNA in driving the effects of TGF-β in ICC.
